At the far end of the
valley, on the bend in the road that takes you up
the final short steep hill up to the
Briksda lvalley, lies Melkevoll Bretun, with a
campsite with facilities for caravans, mobile homes
and tents as well as cabins for hire, and a parking
lot for visitors who have come just for the day to
see the Briksdal Glacier.
The site itself is modelled on the original
landscape, and offers one of the country’s best
spots for buldring. And not least: in the huge scree
slope you will find a reconstruction of a Stone Age
dwelling.
In this establishment we can accommodate groups up
to 50 persons. For groups we offers nature- and
culture guidings. The views are spectacular in every
direction: to the east the Briksdal Glacier, to the
south the Melkevoll Glacier, in the west the
Volefoss waterfall cascades down the mountainside
and
to the north the Oldedalen valley stretches out in
all its beauty. Melkevoll Bretun lies on the edge of
the Jostedal Glacier National Park and is the
perfect place to start many a walk along the
signposted footpaths in the park.
