Oldedalen Skyss has
for more than 100 years transported tourists to and
from the Briksdal Glacier. The traditional trip in
pony and trap was in 2003 replaced by safer
transport in ‘Trollbilar’, battery-driven golf cars
that do the journey in 20 minutes each way, with a
stop at the glacier of about 45 minutes. As the
track winds its wayup the valley it crosses the
bridge over the spectacular
Briksdalsfossen waterfall and offers fantastic views
as it climbs to the final stop at Kleivane, from
where there is an easy footpath to the very edge of
the glacier in thenational park.
Oldedalen Skyss has today 10 such small vehicles
with a total capacity of 70 passengers per departure.
